The identity of the New York Police Department officer killed in the shooting was revealed to be Didarul Islam. According to officials, he had immigrated to the US from Bangladesh, and his wife is currently pregnant. According to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Islam was 36 years old and had served in the NYPD for 3.5 years.
