In the Fergana region, an individual attempting to illegally bring in a large quantity of jewelry from Kyrgyzstan was detained by officers of the State Security Service. This was reported by the information service of the State Security Service, Darakchi.uz.
According to the report, while entering the Fergana territory at the "Vodil Auto" border customs post, a citizen born in 1992, residing in Andijan city, was stopped and inspected in accordance with established procedures.
During the inspection, it was discovered that the individual had hidden a total of 859 pieces of various jewelry items and 1 wristwatch under their clothing in an attempt to smuggle them.
According to expert conclusions, these items, made of pure gold and adorned with diamond stones, had a total weight of 4 kg 155 grams and a market value of 5 billion 213 million soums.
Preliminary information indicates that these valuable items were brought from Turkey via Kyrgyzstan and were planned to be imported into Uzbekistan under the names of approximately 10 traders in Andijan and Fergana. The detained individual was promised a service fee of 400 US dollars for this.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 2, Clause "a" of Article 182 of the Criminal Code (illegal import of valuable goods by evading customs control) regarding this incident. The true owners of the valuable items are being identified.
