In the months of January-May 2025, Uzbekistan exported slightly more gas than it imported. This was reported by Uzdaily.uz here.
During the initial five months, Uzbekistan purchased "blue fuel" worth 285.5 million dollars from Turkmenistan and Russia. This indicates a more than twofold decrease in gas imports compared to the previous year's figures.
While natural gas deliveries amounted to 27.8 million dollars in January, they dropped to 8 million dollars in February and to 2.7 million dollars in March. However, gas imports rose to 112 million dollars in April and reached 135 million dollars in May.
Since the start of the year, gas exports to China have increased by 62.7 percent, reaching 288 million dollars. Specifically, gas worth 21.8 million dollars was delivered to China in January, 20.2 million dollars in February, 52.3 million dollars in March, 105.4 million dollars in April, and 88.3 million dollars in May.
However, data from the National Statistics Committee differs slightly from that of the China Customs Administration, according to which Uzbekistan exported gas worth 261.85 million dollars in the January-May period, which is over 70 percent more than the same indicator last year.
Additionally, China Customs reported that Uzbekistan’s monthly volume of natural gas deliveries increased by 64.4% — from 72.24 million dollars in April to 118.78 million dollars (nearly a 40 dollar increase compared to May 2024).
In terms of gas exports to China, Russia leads with 4.06 billion dollars worth of “blue fuel” delivered in the first five months of this year. Turkmenistan holds the second position with 3.53 billion dollars. The following places are taken by Myanmar (663.7 million dollars), Kazakhstan (383.8 million dollars), as well as the US and Italy with smaller volumes of exports.
