The senior investigator of the Urgench city prosecutor's office was caught in the act of demanding and receiving a large bribe from a citizen. The State Security Service reported this to “Darakchi.uz”.
It is noted that the official demanded $3000 in exchange for halting an investigation of a criminal case, which was being initially investigated by his colleague, without sending it to court with an indictment conclusion.
As a result, between May 16th and 28th, 2025, the senior investigator fraudulently obtained $1000, 10 million Uzbek som, a safe valued at $1000, and an office desk set worth 1.3 million Uzbek som.
However, after the citizen learned that the criminal case initiated against him under Articles 25, 168 part 1, and 28, 211 part 1 of the Criminal Code had not been terminated at the preliminary investigation stage and had been sent to court with an indictment conclusion, he demanded the investigator to return the previously given money and items.
Subsequently, at the time of returning to the citizen the $1000, the safe valued at $1000, and the office desk set worth 1.3 million Uzbek som, the investigator was detained by the State Security Service's Khorezm regional department and the regional prosecutor's office employees with physical evidence.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the investigator, and detention as a precautionary measure has been applied.
