“Seeing the changes in the region, talking to the people, I was once again convinced that our reforms are rapidly entering their lives. Previously, one day was enough to get acquainted with the changes in a single region. We have reached the days when even a week is not enough for one district,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who chaired the meeting.
He emphasized that eight years ago, more than half of the region's industry was concentrated in the oil-gas and chemical sectors. Over the past period, there has been a significant leap in the fields of electrical engineering, construction materials, textiles, and furniture manufacturing, and now these sectors account for 54 percent of the industry. However, it was pointed out that it is necessary to work at an even higher pace without being satisfied with the work done.
At the beginning of this week, the President reminded that he had set clear tasks for the governors to initiate and switch to proactive work without waiting for instructions from above. Kashkadarya has an untapped potential of at least 15 billion dollars. If at least a third of these opportunities are transformed into projects, it is possible to comfortably increase the gross regional product of the region to over 10 billion dollars in the next five years was emphasized.
