“Freedom Flotilla” includes this vessel, which carries around ten volunteers, including the famous environmental activist Greta Thunberg and European Parliament deputy Rima Hassan.
“Italian society supports this initiative. We are trying to raise our voice even louder about the severe humanitarian situation in Gaza,” says Italian politician Marco Grimaldi to AFP agency.
“Madeline” vessel plans to deliver fruit juices, milk, rice, canned goods, and protein-rich bars to Gaza.
Let us remind you, the “Freedom Flotilla” is a non-governmental organization established in 2010, dedicated to delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
On May 2, another vessel of the flotilla was about to head to Gaza, close to Malta's shores, when it was attacked by drones. The attack caused a fire at the front part of the vessel, but it was quickly extinguished.
The organizers blamed Israel for this attack, but Israeli officials have not provided any comment on the incident.
