The European Union has officially announced that it has launched an investigation against the Pornhub, Stripchat, XNXX, and XVideos platforms.
The reason for this is that the age verification of users on these sites is not strict enough. If this confirms that minors have free access to content, platforms face large fines.
According to European law, such platforms are obligated to prevent access to pornographic materials by persons under 18 years of age.
However, so far, in these four services, users have "confirmed" their age by pressing only one button - which is not considered sufficient protection.
The European Commission now plans to gather additional evidence - for example, through surveys. The platforms have the opportunity to avoid punishment by eliminating problems and strengthening the age determination system before the investigation is completed.
The European Union is also working on a special application that will allow users to reliably verify their age without disclosing their identity.
