Reports about the collapse of the “Qoraboğsoy” bridge located in the city of Angren, Tashkent region, spread on social media.
According to the information from the Committee of Automobile Roads, a quick study was carried out on the bridge by the specialists of the “UzYo'lKo'prik” cluster's Bridge and Artificial Structures Diagnostic Department, following a request from the Committee of Automobile Roads, and an appropriate conclusion was provided.
It was established that upon examination of the bridge structure’s technical condition, the interim supports had significantly aged, the supports could not withstand the current loads, the thickness of the bridge's upper coating was exceeding the norm which was putting extra load on the supports, the supports were not working as a single unit but as separate elements, and the water leaking through the cracks in the upper coating and from the edges of the traffic part was spreading along the entire body of the supports, causing corrosion, with water penetrating through the cracks in the supports and also causing corrosion to the working reinforcement.
The general technical condition of the bridge is evaluated as unsatisfactory, and in order to prevent possible accidents in the future, it is necessary to carry out a complete reconstruction of the bridge, considering that the road where the bridge is located corresponds to the first category, the bridge's dimensions do not match the road, and traffic jams are occurring in the area where the bridge is located. Within the scope of bridge reconstruction works, it is mentioned that constructing a new bridge that meets the modern A 14, HK 100 standards and the category of the automobile road is appropriate.
Additionally, the Committee mentioned that on May 13, 2025, around 20:00, the last interim structure on the side of the “Qoraboğsoy” bridge, namely the pedestrian walkway (one span interim structure beam 22.1 m) on the A 373 “Tashkent-Ohangaron-Angren-Qo'qon-Shahrixon-Andijon” automobile road at the 85th kilometer, collapsed, temporarily restricting vehicle traffic in this direction and rerouting it temporarily to the D 019 “Bypassing Angren city” automobile road.
For information, the “Qoraboğsoy” bridge located at the 85th kilometer of the A 373 “Tashkent-Ohangaron-Angren-Qo'qon-Shahrixon-Andijon” automobile road was constructed and commissioned by the “MSU-14 trust UZ moststroy” in 1969 and was reconstructed in 1995. The bridge is built with a three-span scheme 3x22.2 m designed for a second-category automobile road, with a total length of 66.6 meters, the width of the interim structures 1.6 m, length 22.2 m, dimensions 1.3+0.30+14.05+0.30.+1.3 meters, height of the bridge 4.80 meters, width of the traffic part 2*6.55 m, sidewalk width 2*1.30 m, separating strips width 0.96 m, the bridge underpass clearance height is 4.80 m, the incline of the traffic part lengthwise-1%, crosswise-3%, standard load H-30 t, HK-80 t, the automobile road belongs to the 16th category.
