Martin Giese, a representative of the German Foreign Ministry, positively assessed the new draft law concerning key anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine—the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO).
According to him, the draft submitted to parliament by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy can be called a "first correct step." Berlin hopes that this law will be adopted soon and signed by the president.
"This process should not be delayed, and most importantly—the content of the law should not be watered down. This is crucial for restoring lost trust," said Giese during a briefing in Berlin.
The Ukrainian parliament—the Verkhovna Rada—is expected to vote on the draft law on July 31. Meanwhile, protests in Kyiv continue, aimed at protecting the independence of NABU and SAPO.
