TikTok's parent company ByteDance plans to lay off around 150 content moderators in Berlin and 15 employees of TikTok Live, leading employees to announce a one-day strike on July 23. According to the German trade union
"Ver.di," employees have been training artificial intelligence for several months, and now this technology is set to replace them.
Workers expressed their dissatisfaction by rowing boats on the Spree River, followed by a protest. They are demanding compensation equivalent to three years' salary and a 12-month notice period for layoffs. TikTok management has rejected these demands.
According to "Ver.di," for some foreign employees, this layoff could also threaten their residency permits.
