During an attempt to repel another widespread air raid conducted by Russian military, an F-16 fighter jet belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force crashed. As a result, the pilot died. Ukrainian officials reported this yesterday, June 29, Sunday.
Russia attacked Ukrainian territories with hundreds of drones, cruise and ballistic missiles overnight. According to local officials, the attacks caused damage to homes and vital infrastructure, with at least 12 people sustaining injuries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to Washington and allies in the West for more active assistance in strengthening the air defense system.
“We need every F-16, every Patriot. The pressure from Russia from the air is intensifying,” — Zelensky said in his appeal.
As a reminder, the Russia-Ukraine war started in February 2022, and throughout this period, Moscow has intensified air raids especially during night and early morning hours.
